Why Don Moran?

First elected in 2012 to the Will County Board, Don Moran came aboard with a drive to create and retain good jobs in Will County.

The County Board named Don as the inaugural Chairman of the South Suburban Airport, (SSA) and Illinana Ad Hoc Committee.  While Chairman, Don Moran sought the cooperation between the South Suburban Mayors, Congress, IDOT, and the Farm Bureau. Don’s work on this committee landed him a position on the National Transportation Steering Committee for the National Association of Counties, an organization that represents the nearly 3200 counties and parishes across the United States.  Since this year’s annual NACO meeting, Don was named a Vice Chairman of the Airport Subcommittee. Sitting on this national committee gives us a strong voice in DC for our transportation issues in Will County.

Will County has seen increases in traffic on all of our roads.  At last year’s NACO annual meeting, Don wrote a resolution with language that directs the FHWA to include Counties into local freight planning. The language was included in the final long term Federal transportation appropriation, FAST Act, which was signed into law late last year.

Don has worked tirelessly to see that the Weber Road interchange project moves forward with as little heartache as possible and that it will be completed quickly.

Don has been actively involved in the recent progress made on the Will County Public Safety Complex. A long overdue new building will be shared with the Sheriff’s office, ESDA, and 911 call center and will be built on the site of the current Sheriff’s facility.  Construction will be starting soon with a completion due late next year.
